On May 10, we played a friendly match against Zambia on lidraughts.org with a time control of 25 min + 10 sec per move. The Zambians used their phones, while we used computers at Coonara community house. Penias and I supervised, ready to solve any issues. If lidraughts didn’t work, we planned to communicate moves via WhatsApp, but fortunately, everything went smoothly.
The game results were:
James vs Obby: 0-2
Jason vs Smart: 1-1
Lyndal vs Brown: 1-1
Erica vs Hestings: 0-2
James started strong but lost due to a mistake.
Jason, with a chess background, managed a draw despite early setbacks.
Lyndal struggled with the different playing style but secured a draw with a beautiful combination (see below). Erica, the youngest at 12, got stuck in a left-wing lock and lost.
Lyndal here with black executes a counter combination after Smart thought he had a winning move to king. Press the play button to see it
